THE STORY OF AMODICI

“Some people eat to live. I do not. I came to eat, and eat I will.”

Amodici, pronounced Amo-DeeChee, was the blossoming venture of a woman who lives to eat. Finding her life a constant mirror of worldwide flavors, cooking techniques, culinary delights, and health focused recipes, Deanna Amodeo realized that there is one thing that sustains her soul just as much as it sustains her body; precious food.

Raised in a Sicilian-American family, the deep relationship with food began in her earliest years. Joining her family each and every night she tasted the dishes her mother created through hard work & passed down recipes. Little did she know that this was to be the birthplace of a ritual that Deanna takes with her everywhere.

“Every single night, we were expected at the dinner table, and even through our teenage years we didn’t even mind.”

Finally leaving the comfort of her dinner table, Deanna set out on a grand voyage across multiple continents that lasted her upwards of 7 years during her twenties. It was during these travels that her flavor preferences began to shift, as she was introduced to the poignant flavors of Indian cuisine, the tropical expression of life in Hawaii, the foraged delights of Alaska’s rainforests, and the cultural vortex of Mexican & Guatemalan culinary arts.

“It didn’t matter how far I traveled, it always brought me back to the same place; at a dinner table with someone, whether it be a loyal host, a new friend or a lover.”

Upon returning from these exotic experiences, Deanna felt compelled to combine such a diverse list of passions, but where does one begin? At first she tried her skills out as a retreat chef, private cook and restaurant sous chef. But she felt her expansive mind and heartfelt efforts were lost in the hustle-bustle of life back in NJ.

That is when she began crafting blends & products on her own time, and found that if she took the time to craft products that incorporates the stories, flavors & rituals of other cultures, she can teach and empower people to find the richness in cooking for themselves and their loved ones, and the sustained joy it brings to know that you can nourish yourself from within, while enjoying the process.

“I aim to make each and every product an adventure for the 5 senses, including your memories. What memories do these smells & spices invoke? Perhaps from childhood, or perhaps from a time before this present life…”
